The Blindness of Violence.

On Monday last, at the corner of Third and Chestnut streets, Philadelphia, Pa, a man struck another man by the name of SIMON SNYDER, on the alleged supposition that he had spoken disrespectfully of President LINCOLN, and almost instantly, the cry of''Copperhead'' was raised, a crowd gathered, and the life of the assailed man was threatened. It turned out that Mr. SNYDER bad voted for Mr. LINCOLN in 1860 and 1864, and has always been accounted "a strong Union man."

No doubt many other men have been equally wrongfully assailed. Violence is seldom just or discriminating
